purchased maytag sav4655eww from home depot in may 2005. Have been informed by Maytag that I need a new motor, transmission, timer, triple lip seal, and today a new pump as well. Maytag has informed me that I will be responsible for close to $500. for repairs, anyone else have problems with this model. I was told by Maytag that I have either used it to much or that I am overloading it. HELP!!!!

i would have settled for maytag to cover the parts, and i would pay the labor, however after speaking with Head Office and having to deal with how rude they are, I am thinking of taking them to small claims court and trying to get them to replace the machine, after all, if i fix it the insides would be new. Thanx for the many answers, it only proved what I already knew, the maytag man being lonely and not having any work is a complete farce!

Yeah maytag told you or some repair guy told you?
them washers are notorious for having the pump lock up.
I bet it is only a pump you need. How can all that go wrong on a 2 year old washer? You can fix it easily, just tip up the washer and remove the belt(no tools needed) just remove the 3 3/8ths screws to the pump and remove the 2 hoses. install the new 35 dollar pump and you are good to go. You can test the pump by removing the belt and then turning the pump pulley by hand. If it is hard to turn in either direction it is bad.
I have replaced many of these pumps.

Unless you have an extended warranty, you will be responsible for the repairs. You probably paid about $750 for it new. So, I would assume a replacement would be about that much. Then again, after this experience, you probably wouldn't want to buy a Maytag again. Besides, unless you got a used sav4655eww model, it wouldn't match your dryer.

Looks like you'll have to bite the bullet and get it fixed. But, you might want to try a discount appliance repair company instead of Maytag. It might be significantly cheaper.

Yes.....
I have a matag that has needed a pump and the electrical panel 2x's now.
Piece of $#!+.........
There is no way all this would have happened by"overloading it" The repairman ( who I have seen 3 times now) told me they're all crap and the pumps chronically break.
I wrote to Maytag to complain and they sent me a nice package offering extra 3 years coverage for $900....
I'd rather buy a new washer than give them more money......
Good Luck
