I think it's wrong that the losers of the CL drop into the UEFA cup automatically, when by that stage teams may have played six or more games, just another scandal orchestrated by the powers to be to ensure if a big team gets knocked out he still has a cushion to land on.

100% agree that it's unfair
Why should teams come down into the uefa when they can't be successful in the champions league?
As a spurs fan, if liverpool finished 3rd in their group and came down to the uefa i wouldn't be too pleased because i can't remember the last time we beat liverpool and i think once the spurs get settled the uefa cup could be ours this season!

Yes, defeat should mean defeat. By doing this, UEFA are only rewarding failure and underachievement. You also have to ask why most teams are in the Champions League, when they are not champions, but rather, also rans. Go back to the early 1990s way, when the Champions League was for the 1st place teams, the UEFA Cup was for 2nd and 3rd teams and Cup winners, and the UEFA Cup was actually a competition really worth winning.

I don't agree with you.
The UEFA Cup needs to have as strong a group of competing clubs as possible.
The teams that drop out of the Champions League are more often than not a lot stronger than the teams taking part in the UEFA Cup.
Don't forget that those teams that have played five or six games have already reaped their rewards financially and many of them do not harbour any realistic expectations of winning the tournament. there are clubs that don't even take it seriously.
I don't know about you but I would much rather see Celtic win the UEFA Cup than FC Basle.

its only the teams that finish 3rd in there CL group that go in to it, but the team that was in the CL had to play harder opposition.

none of us can really argue because when was the last time a team got throwin out of the CL into the UEFA cup and won the UEFA cup?

agree 100% even though we (lfc) might benefit from it.for me, once you've been knocked out of any comp that should be it. i think the so called big teams get enough concessions(seedings etc.)without having the money making cushion of joining another comp halfway through.

I couldn't care less, as long as Manchester United's winning, it really doesn't matter what happens to the losers.
