All of the Judges on the 'Court TV Shows are real Judges.

Fun Facts you Should Know:

At the end of the show, when the judge awards money to the plaintiff, The Defendant does not pay any part of the money. The Show pays the entire Judgment to the Plaintiff.

How do I know?

I was sued in 2001 for something that was not my fault.
The Judge Hatchett Show sent me a letter informing me I would be flown First Class to NYC, Picked up in Limo and escorted to a 5-Star Hotel in Downtown NYC. Then the day of the taping for the show, I would be escorted by Limo to and from the show. The letter also stated any monetary judgment found for the Plaintiff would be paid by the Show, and I would never pay anything.

I was suspect, as I didn't think a Judge in NYC would have jurisdiction over Laws in my State. I called my lawyer and asked if I was required to respond to the letter. My lawyer said No. I didn't, and the person who sued me hired a lawyer who dropped the case as it was a frivolous suit.

She is a real judge. However unlike what Tigger posted, her show DOES NOT fly the participants to L.A. via first class. A friend of mine was being sued by his ex's new boyfriend and the new b/f called the Judge Judy show.

My friend said they only fly them coach, but his dad does a lot of travelling so he paid to have the tickets upgraded. Also, the Judge Judy show put them up in a wonderful motel called The Holiday Inn. It may not have been exactly a Holiday Inn, but it wasn't a fancy 5-Star motel either. I think a show that obviously brings in the money like her's does could spring for a little better accomidations. They only got to stay in L.A. for two days and had to come back home.

Anyway, the case was dismissed and Judy raked the ex and the new b/f over the coals pretty badly for the ten or so minutes they were on the screen.

No, she's a real judge and the rulings are in fact final. My mom used to tell me that her take no crap attitude was fake and she did it just for the show but I saw an article that says her new DVD that is coming out with the best of the show has tape from before she was a tv judge and she definitely hasn't changed and it is definitely not an act. I love her!

Both Judge Judy and her husband are both authentic judges. Can you imagine being a kid in that household?
