At the start of planet of the apes the female member of the spaceships crew (her name was Steward) dies whilst the other 3 guys grew beards and barely aged at all?? how and why did she die???

At launch, they were all placed in suspended animation, sometimes called cryosleep, hypersleep. During the flight, the glass shield over her chamber, cracked which allowed her to age normally. It follows the same approach to light speed an E=MC² theory. If you travel at the speed of light, time slows down for you. Say you take a journey at the speed of light for 1 minute. For you only 1 minute has passed, but for everyone you left on Earth, 100 years may have passed. Same principal of the woman dying in the capsule.

Hello. If you'll notice the glass-bed she's in has a crack in it. This let air inside her 'tomb' and caused her to age accordingly and then die of a quick old age. Hope this helps! ;)
