Windows Live messenger has better live video/voice chat. It is not jerky like yahoo's video and the voice opens with the video for clear sound along with the smooth running video. It's almost like your in the same room.

Tough call, but right now I'd have to say Yahoo gives me a greater variety of activities and neat features that I actually use on a regular basis.
Also, Yahoo's system runs smooth for me on both the PC and a Mac while MSN limits or has ceased supporting features on their IM and websites for Mac and generally doesn't support Mac at all these days for some features I want to use.
So Yahoo gets my vote!

Most of my friends use MSN so I would have to say MSN but I think Yahoo has a wider range of emoticons.
