I don't think it SHOULD matter especially in regards to legal rights and protections.
Many Physically handicaped (Capable...) folks become so as adults, under no fault of their own, but do we not build ramps to public buildings so they have the same ability to enter?

Genetic implies that gay is both prenatal and postnatal, I think maybe you're asking Nature or Nurture (Genetics or Environment)...and I can't say it should make a difference to anyone but the individual

It matters because if it is genetic or an inborn characteristic then it isn't something that can be changed. That means that someone who is gay didn't choose to be that way. For legal reasons this matters because gays can't marry legally and don't get many of the benefits that go with that. Preventing gays from marrying or discriminating against them for any reason would be illegal just like discriminating against women or African Americans if there was a gene or something that determined a person's sexuality.

I use to think so. I use to aalways question why I was gay. Did something happen to me when I was younger? Was I born this way? Was it my parents fault somehow? But then I just had to say to myself, screw it, you are what you are. I could drivve myself crazy trying to figure it out, and still probably never know. So now I just accept it. I'm Gay, whatever the reason may be, it doesn't change the fact.

No.
Even if gay/lesbian/bisexual people deliberately CHOSE to be gay/lesbian/bisexual (which I don't believe they do), as the anti-gay biblethumpers claim we do, it still wouldn't justify legal discrimination against us.
After all -- people CHOOSE their religious affiliations or lack thereof -- and yet it is illegal to discriminate against people on the basis of their choice of religion.
So why should some life choices, like religion, be legally protected, while others, like sexual orientation, are not?

It doesn't matter to me at all. As long as gays are in consenting and adult relationships, ultimately I don't care one way or the other. Whatever sex consenting adults are having in the privacy of their own bedroom I have no problem with and it's none of my business.

It only matters to those who want to discriminate against us, or try to find a way to 'eradicate' us through genetic manipulation.

Not even a little bit.
I know it wasn't a choice ... other than that I really don't care what caused it.
We are here, and it is now ... what else matters?

Not in my mind, does it matter. Can't change, nor do I want to. Accept and live, no matter the reason it is!
