I am Blessed to still be enjoying the love of my Husband.
We met in our youth. It was WW2, he was just out of
U.S.Navy basic training & I was just out of gym class.
10 yrs. later we wed., he still in military (career).

He holds my hand often. When he takes my blood pressure, before breakfast, he holds my hand & looks at me so lovenly. I know that I am loved & so does my man, know the same.

Wed now for 54 yrs.We have laughed, cried & prayed as one.
Christ & His Love is the glue that keeps us together. ~~~~

!! Thank you for allowing me to share with you !!

This was my grandmother and grandfather (Fern and Wally). After 50 plus years of marriage...they still held hands, starred into each others eyes and treated each other with love an respect. My "Papa Wally" was a dentist and my "Grandma Fern" was a homemaker. She was a down to earth German woman who loved to cook and entertain. Papa Wally, being self employed, always took Friday off to take Grandma Fern to the hair dresser, take her to lunch and then to the mall to buy her an outfit. Seriously...this was Grandma Fern's day and Papa Wally catered to her. My parents had a 50th wedding anniversary party for them at their home and my grandmother, who loved to sing, but really wasn't that great .....she dreamed of being an opera singer... sang a song in front of everyone while her best friend played the piano. As she sang...she got so into it and my grandfather just stood by her side...smiling with an adoring look to his face with his eyes saying "That's my Fernie" . I tell you...that's what i have always wanted in a relationship and I always joke around saying that's the reason why I can't keep a relationship...because my standards are so high...I want to be just like Grandma Fern and Papa Wally!

i think that it is very naturual for ages to express themsleves with an apporopriate manner. As long as their are no public displays of affection then everyone will be delighted for them. All in all i think that is very sweet for any age to hold hands, but especailly elderly people recieve the most compliments.

I feel the same way! I feel so sympathetic and my heart just sinks. You say that you're in love, but you really can't actually get the feel with it until your elder and wise and you just understand life. And your right about the sparkle in their eyes..it's just a KODAK moment of reminisment and passion

I loooove that...

There is a couple across the street from my mom... maybe both in their mid to late 60's.. but they have been married since they were like 16 or 17.. something like that..

anyway.. they walk to Carvel together .. holding hands..to get ice cream. They sit and eat it in the park.. and walk home..

I think that is SO romantic...(cheesy.. I know.. but it's cute)

My mother in law is 87 and my father in law is 89. She is very fragile right now. I went to visit last week and my father in law asked me, "Have I told you how me and that woman started dating?" I said, "Tell me.". I've heard it for 28 years but I never get tired of hearing it and now when he tells it he has that faraway look in his eye and he gets teary. It's a beautiful thing to see.

Here is their story it's very sweet:
They dated before he went to WWII. He was on Normandy Beach on the 6th day and survived it. He came home after the war and needed a date. He saw Geneva with some friends talking. He thought, "I will just go ask her.". He wasn't sure if she would accept because right before he left to go in the Army he stood her up on a date. She accepted and they started dating regularly. He thought he was in the clear. One night he went to pick her up for a date. Her father answered the door and said, "She isn't home.". She stood him up! He knew he had to marry her then. She is the sweetest, most loving woman I have ever met. :) They have been married for 64 years.

It gives hope. To see a couple that has been together though thick and thin. They can still walk side to side, knowing the other still loves, respects and wants them. I can hope that my married will just as strong.

It brings tears to my eyes. I would have loved my parents to ahve lived long enough for me to see them this way. My much older brother told me they were totally devoted to each other. When my mother died my father was so heartbroken he died just over 2 years later. I bet they are holding hands in Heaven.

I love it, too. And when I look at them, I can almost see them in their attire from the 1940's or so, walking briskly, having fun...I can still see a glimmer of youth in them. I love seeing old couples-very inspiring!
