wouldn't it make more sense that they have to explain why they gave a thumbs down or a thumbs up? Sometimes I can't figure out why someone would give an answer a thumbs down and wish I could just look under the 'thumbs' and see a reason from the person.
Wouldn't this make more sense?

PiratePantherPrincess: I have not found a way to identify who gives thumbs downs. And, I'm not talking about the questions I ask necessarily - I'm talking about any in general. It just seems like an "I agree" or an "I disagree" should be explained. I want to know why you agree or disagree so I can make up my own mind.

I think it would make people more accountable of their actions.

Ya know, it's not that it's even that big of a deal - it's just that sometimes a person can really learn some stuff on here. Sometimes, well, obviously, it's crap. But, I'm open to opinions and would like to hear more when someone has an opposing opinion.

I give a lot of thumbs up when I agree, like you are "right on the button " and mostly ignore the thumbs down.> I enjoy the funny answers the most.

It would make more sense. I believe people give thumbs down simply because they want their answer to be the one chosen as best. For example, I asked a question last week about a recipe and I got some awesome ones. Well, this girl apparently thought hers should be best and I should choose it, so she went through and gave everyone thumbs down but herself. That drives me crazy! Needless to say, she didn't get best answer and I gave her a thumbs down simply for being so vain.

Thank you for expressing what I have thought for some time now! I saw someone gave me a thumbs down for an answer I submitted and I felt it was sound advise and would have loved to hear the "why" behind the negative feedback!

Agreed. I feel the same way when I see 1 thumbs down all the way down through every answer. I think some people just don't grasp the actual concept of the thumbs up/down privilege.

Great idea. Then people could give a thumbs up or down to the reason given for the initial thumbs up or thumbs down.

they do it because their jealous of your answer or you have more points than the do its just a childish way of then pouting that's about it grown ups don't do this type of thing, they will do you like this though and there's nothing really you can do about it,if the person you answered a question for likes your answer they will pick it anyway ,so i wouldn't worry about it,i have had more thumbs down on here probably than anyone else,it doesn't bother me i just wish people would grow up a little, good luck .

Yes! I have been thinking that same thing lately. People will give u a thumbs down for anything! But the reasoning would probably b something really sarcastic and rude.

I see it a lot, thumbs down because people disagree with the answer.
If there was a reason given it would either strengthen my position making them look bad, or vice-versa. Good idea.

yea it makes sense, but sometimes an answer will just hit you one way or another and you have this gut reaction to give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down...i like your idea though

I think they should keep the person who gave the thumbs down unknown because that would just cause a lot of damn drama and then this place would start to suck...but I think to leave an anonymous comment would be great.
