It is really hard to say because as a child of the 70s/80s, I remember all the movies that came out and the ones now regarded as classics were not exactly Oscar winners. They just somehow stood the test of time and have a special place in the heart of those that grew up watching them. Movies like Ghostbusters, Grease, Robocop, ET, Karate Kid, Scarface, Breakfast Club, Porky's, Back to the Future, The Outsiders, A Christmas Story and Ferris Bueller, etc, etc.
I think in 20 years, people might still be watching current films like Spiderman, any Pixar cartoon, who knows... my kids watch The Replacements over and over and over... so maybe that will end up being one.

Donnie Darko
and a wild guess would be 'The Invisible' because it is a typical wreckless love story disguised as a clever horror film.

Hands down, "The Usual Suspects". It is a very intelligent Crime drama with one of the most amazing plot twists in recent history, with strong performances from the entire cast.
