While it's true that the word police is never mentioned in the Bible, there are many places that show that we are to respect the laws of the land, thus showing that being a Christian IS different than the crowd. Paul was jailed several times, for preaching about Jesus, yet he never gave his jailers a hard time, nor did he try to escape. Titus 3:1-2 says, "Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness to all men." So, my answer would be this...how could I call myself a Christian and not obey law enforcement? Even when law enforcement officials are corrupt, we are to still obey. Why? Because we answer to a higher calling, and desire to please our true Master. It might be hard to understand if you're not involved in following Jesus, but that's what Christians are called to do. <*)))><

God told the Hebrews to go to war and Jesus also told his followers to pay Rome the taxes that are owed to them. It says in the Bible to obey the law of the land. How is locking up murderers, rapists, and thieves not Christian? God also said that you should not tolerate a witch which also requires law enforcement. Have you ever read the Holy Bible? If you did, you didn't comprehend it.

First of all, caps lock is shouting, which is bad manners. You apologize you say? Very well, I forgive you.

Secondly in theory you are factually incorrect. The section of the Bible that deals most with law enforcement is judges (duh). There were good and bad ones, but the bad ones outnumbered the good at least 2 to 1. Just like cops. So in the Bible, there are many examples of good law-enforcement men (Joshua springs to mind as well as Gideon) as well as bad.

You're frustrated and I share your frustration with law enforcement personnel, but this is not a matter of faith. I would argue that both good cops I know are Christians. So are a lot of bad ones. For the record though, police officers tend to be non-practising religiously, or atheists or agnostics.

The real issue is that no one can function as arbiter of the law with that kind of power and authority and not be corrupted, Christian or not. Even those who fight that corruption admit it affects them and changes them.

First, it's "youRSELF." Second, have you ever heard of the Ten Commandments? You think Rabbis and the Elders didn't enforce them? How about the woman who was about to be stoned to death for adultery outside the city walls? How about, hmmmm......the arrest, torture, and ultimate crucifixion of Jesus for blasphemy? How about you go back to school and learn some spelling and history of the bible and stay out of trouble? That way, you'll have a clue as to what you're talking about and be able to spell it? Oh, and the police won't be knocking in your front door at 3 in the morning.

Last time I checked, the Pentateuch (the books of the law, or Genesis through Deuteronomy) is all about laws, and what to do to those who break them, or, in other words, enforcing the law. So, there's your answer. That's law enforcement at it's finest.

I'd like it if our law enforcers were all Christians cause you wouldn't find the corruption that you find now in it.

"render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's ...."

temporal power is Caesar's and does not belong to some religious wallah.
