Slave days is it?
Well ok..."whipper snapper" sounds catchier to me but oh well.
I guess since I did not beat slaves I don't get to pick my racial slur.

I always wondered about the "cracker" - where does he come from, what makes him a cracker?

I love crackers. Especially in my clam chowder.

Yes it is a term that many blacks used to describe white slave masters who cracked the whips. Whats funny is the average person from any race including black and white really do believe the term means "cracker" as in saltine. This is as i silly as people believing the "N" word means ignorant person. The "N" word actually comes from a great group of Nubian Africans. ***** is Latin for black. Which the Latins used to describe the dark Nubian people they encountered in Northern Africa. Ie, Nigeria, Niger and the Niger river. These are words deriving from dark skinned or *****. Native Americans are not Indians at all. Christopher Columbus and his crew actually thought they had encountered people from India because of the reddish brown skin tones.

People should not use racist terms because most are too ignorant to understand the true meaning of the term. People throw around words and really don't know what the words mean. Words like the "N" word have gotten so tangled and misused that people should just put it to rest including us black folk. Because a lot of us don't understand and respect it. Racism is stupid no matter coming from any person. No excuse.

Its an insult meant for whites, like ofay, honky, etc. Used mainly by American blacks, but not much. Originally meant someone who cracks the whip over a slave.

"Whipper Snapper" means youngster.

I don't use such derogatory terms to refer to anyone but the question was quite funny. And...NO...that's not what they mean. Some people are just rude and want to offend.
