the company is not registered with BBB and the money already came out of my crdit card. The company did show up for my job to be done, but, then, they left...do I still have any rights? The company is telling me that the services were offered under false pretense and that is why they left the job...

You did what??? Paid in advance for services?

Call the credit card company to see if they can help. They might not since you authorized the payment. If the credit card is owned by the company in question you might not have to pay the bill.

What country do you live in? Laws might be different depending on where. Here in the US, you could call your local television and newspaper media to help expose the company. Contact the Attorney General for the state where the company is, write a detailed letter. Enclose all (credit card statments, emails) proof that you've paid for services.

Dispute the purchase with your credit card first. See if the company is a member of the Better Business Bureau - if so, file a complaint. Contact your Attorney General's Office and file a complaint. Continue to try and call the company - keep detailed notes of everything you do (when you called, who you talked to, etc) Send a certified letter to them demanding the return your money immediately.

Bottom line - they don't sound like a reputable company. Your main concern is getting back your money by calling the credit card company and filing a dispute. Good luck!

if you paid by credit card and never signed anything, then you can call your credit card company and state that this charge is an unauthorized charge.

since the company has no signed authorization or proof that services were rendered, they have no legal claim on your money.

this works!
