I have been working at the place for a little over 4 months now.
About two weeks ago, my manager took me to the side and informed me that i have been ineffective at my current responsibilites and that certain tasks will be taken away from me while others will be given to me.
So within the past two weeks i have only done administrative work for the group in whch they told me to now do. While this, I cant tell you how much stress i had with them... now today, my manager called me in the office to inform me that the work i am now doing does not coorespond to the amount of my salary and they have to let me go.

1) can i collect unemployment due to this?
2) what would be the next step(s) for me in order to go about this?

Thanks for your time.

They said nothing about being layed off, but they did say I was terminated.

Best way is togo down to the unemployment office..and see if you qualify.

The one thingmore than the reason is probably going ot be the time frame of the employment.
Unless you worked somewhere else before this, then that working salary will be used to qualify and calculated for your unemployment benefits.

This past 4 months will count for next year for you, should you try to fdraw from them.

Thats how it works in California anyway.
But try and see...worst they can do is say no

You are being laid off. If you have enough time in, you can collect unemployment. Register at your local Employment Office. 4 months (if you had no employment before this job) will be real close to having the amount of time to collect.
