Yes, but you're going to have a higher reading on your speedometer and odometer than what you're actually doing. At 60MPH you're actually going to be doing about 55.8MPH. Also, your car will drive as if it's geared lower, so cruising speed on the highway will be a higher RPM than with the larger sidewalled tires.

As far as fitment and looks, you're going to lose about an inch of ride height, and there will be an extra inch of clearance in your fenders, as well. The only chance of this not working is if your current tires are on wheels narrower than they should be, and the sidwalls flare out. The newer tires have a very small chance of rubbing on your steering components if the widest point of the sidewall is lower, but on most vehicles I'd seriously doubt that'd be an issue.

Yes, change in the aspect ratio of the tires(40/50) will also affect the performance of your car.Acceleration,braking,cornering,maybe different.

yes it will. You will mess with the calibration of the speedometer and odometer some. That happens anytime you change the diameter of the tire.
