First of all, when trade unions came into existence there was a definite need for them.As they strengthened demands were made which put employers in a non competitive position. As a result several businesses no longer exist due to employee unionization. One must consider that several of the businesses which no longer exist were not managed well to start.A prime example is the auto industry in US where Toyota is top dog which I believe is still non-union.
