There are two possiblecause for this. One is that your browser is not setup properly(home page not set) and the other is a virus.
To assign a home page, if ur using "Internet Explorer",
click on tools
then select Internet options.
on the general tab there's a text box that has a label "Address" change that into what ever site you want.
For "Mozilla Firefox" click on tools
then select "option"
on the "main" tab change the text box that has the label "home page".
Now if it is a virus read this link
http://www.pchell.com/support/aboutblank.shtml
http://www.google.com.ph/search?hl=tl&q=about+blank&meta=
Or you can do a "system restore" (for XP) its a lot easier.
To do this click on start select all programs then select accessories then system tools and click on system restore. (you have to be using an administrative account to access this feature). then follow the wizrd instrction. Now in selecting a restore point, remember to select the date BEFORE you experience the problem, to be safe select at-least a month before. Word of caution though, this wont affect your save files and programs that are installed prior to the date you selected, this will remove installed programs that are installed "after" the selected date/restore point. but even so you can still undo the restoration fairly easy, or just reinstall the program so its very safe. (to do that read the help).
If this is unclear. click start then select "help and support" type "system restore".

ok, my computer has done that before, there is a few things you could do.
1. what you are going to need to do is reinstall some of you windows programs, because there is something missing that makes the internet work. and make sure that you change your home page, google is the best, because it loads rather easily. but anyway, reinstall the programs.
2. If you cant find number 1, your best bet would be to back up the files you need on to a seperate disk and reinstall windows completely.
3. or what I have done before, its fastest too. is figure out about how long it has been doing that, after that subtract a week, and remember that date, now go to Start >Programs/All Programs(which ever one you have)> then click on accessories > then System Tools and if you have System Restore, click on that and a window should appear, now the first bullet should be checked, or dotted however you wanna refer to it. then click next, now find the date you figured out earlier and click on it, and then click restore to this point, and well thats it, your comp will find the date, and in about 4 or 5 minutes it should work again.
Good Luck!

This looks like a classical case of NOOBolosys.
about:blank means you don't have a homepage setup, it doesn't means that your internet is not working. Try typing in http://www.google.com where about:blank is written. I think that should solve the problem.

I think that the problem is probably that you need to set your home page to a real website, like www.google.com If that is not your problem, then go to connections on the tabs, and make sure that allways connected is checked.

If your home page is set to "blank", then the browser is going to open to a blank screen. If you can get to the blank screen, then try typing in "yahoo.com" in the address bar and see if you get there.
You said that you were getting errors. Please list them as we will probably need them to know which of the several hundred possible things is wrong.

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options >(tab)Programs > Reset Web Settings.
You can do more here too --- depending on your connection.
Take a look around --- you will see.

The best is to call your internet service provider. They can perform tests to see if your connection is ok or not.
My internet was acting funny recently and I called Verizon (my provider) and they fixed it very easily.
Hope that helps :)

in case you copied the completed CD on your no longer easypersistent, you're able to installation from there. probability is which you only have the needed working archives from the CD. you ought to use the link under, and get your product key, and use an XP CD from someplace else, and re-installation. returned up your drivers, and make sure you get your key code earlier you start up !! good success !

I'm assuming your on a different comp now. It sounds like you have a virus. There is a nasty one out now. It acts like a anti-virus, but it is really a anti-anti-virus. It takes over your comp.
I got it, and my comp. did that. I had to restore it to fix it.
