What could this be,, is it my aircondition belt.. I have no clue as to what this noise is but it drives me crazy and I even feel mortified sometimes.

I like Johnny and Country boy's answers

I also think it has something to do with my belts or the air compresser I don't know but my car is a 1997 Galant she runs like a stallon too. I just don't know nothing about cars....just that I can get in it and go I am fine.. Thanks

As the other person said lift the hood and make sure there's adequate power steering fluid in the reservoir. Before starting your car I'll try to explain how to isolate noise while the engine is running. Using a long inexpensive screwdriver put the point of the screwdriver on the power-steering pump as close to the pulley as possible. Place either ear on the plastic end of the screwdriver listen for 5 -10 seconds. The noise form the pump will be magnified somewhat. Do the test on the alternator air-conditioning compressor. If the noise increases a ton on any of these moving parts you have a bad bearing. Next inspect the condition of the serpentine drive belt that turns all the under-hood accessories. Twist the belt around so that you can inspect the driven side ( belt surface that drives the PS pump, alternator and air conditioning compressor). If you see ant cracks running diagonal the the driven side surface have the belt replaced. If not do the following: Spray the belt driven side with 100% silicone spray.

If its a loud very high pitched whine your starter drive (Bendix) may be sticking on the ring gear after you start your car. Any independant mechanic can find that problem in seconds. For that matter he also could isolate the sound you're hearing. If you don't feel comfortable doing the ear test.

If it whines for a little while and then stops then it's probably a belt, pulley, or tensioner. However it's hard to guess without knowing what kind of car.

Some cars have a timing belt tensioner that makes that noise. Mostly Nissan's. It'll do it for a few seconds after you start then stop.
