What combination of fabrics tends to be more heavyweight and will keep me warmer if i am buying a sweater/sweatshirt? 100% cotton, or sometimes they have mix of 60%cotton 40%polyster. Thanks for your input!

Actually, a microfiber such as those used by NorthFace, etc. are best as they will be light weight, dry quickly, keep you warm, and wick away sweat. BUT for just a nice feeling sweater, wool, cashmere, alpaca, and silk are all warmer than cotton.

acutaly heavier weight is not necessarily better. Merino Wool and Cashmere are much warmer than cotton. Most all of my warm sweaters for winter are normal wool or merino wool.
