I have a "pear" shaped body and am also 5'6". Silver jeans are the only ones that seem to flatter my type of figure.

I have these and love them:

I really recommend custom made jeans. I get mine at Make Your Own Jeans. They start at just $45.00. You have total control over the style, fit, cut, rise, length, everything. I just love them. You even have choices of different cute pockets and other embellishments.

straight leg, mid rise, dark wash jeans are most often universally flattering on all body types.

dark wash will make you look thinner. Straight leg will balance your pair shape. and mid rise so that you don't have the mom jean look or show your undies to the world.

You don't say anything about your measurements or age or taste-I'm 47 and 5'4" and I find it hard too-Actual Levis work best for me but Old Navy has several different body type jeans out-go to their website you can read all about them and see your choices
