Just as my co-answerer, Shabba Labba Dingdong, has stated, NFL fans are "wacked out". I once conducted a study with my mentor Dr. Conner Morganfield on the average IQ of NFL fans vs. MLB fans. The outcome was unsurprisingly in favor of the baseball gallery.
I do believe this is due to the body-painting taking place in unventilated garages and/or woodland shacks.

I think contact sports umm...attract people that are a little more easily distracted and sport like baseball were you have to be more attentive and there is a suspense attract people that are able to concentrate very well that why there is the possibility that MLB fans might be a bit more educated. Also the ambiance I mean football is a very rowdy game as for baseball everyone is kind of mellow waiting for the next move. I live with both my husband and all the men in my family love both baseball and football so i don't see much of a difference my guys are all very mellow but i can understand what your saying.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. I am a big baseball fan and have seen some horrendous behavior at those games as well.
And yeah football fans are a little louder and rowdier (becaue it's part of the game) but allot of them are still civilized. One of the teachers I used to work with was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and went to a game and said he was a little embarrassed about the way some people behaved. He said there were people cussing and flipping off the other team, just being real crude. So he and his wife moved and found some pretty cool people to hang with.
So there's a little of everything everywhere. Has nothing to do with intelligence.

Is this based upon a manual from an etiquette pamphlet that was first published in 1894?
Because I have a good line that may or may not fit within the context of this post...
"The pleasure of the occasion was marred by the manager of Fresno and his second baseman, as well. The former was guilty of using profane language in the hearing of ladies, showing he is devoid of the instincts of a gentleman. He made a vulgar allusion, proving he is a blackguard, and finally he called the umpire a horse thief and a robber, giving further evidence of hoodlum proclivities."
- Times-Delta newspaper account of a Visalia vs. Fresno game, 1890
Maybe the baseball fan is a gentleman, but the fellow who takes part in such an unwholesome activity? No way!

Maybe you should actually play the game. To me, watching baseball is like watching grass grow. That's just my opinion though, it's cool if other people enjoy it, I don't. I mean, it's fun to play, just not fun to watch.
Football is exciting because the game moves much faster and it's a lot easier to get engrossed into the game than it is in baseball. Once the ball is in play, anything can happen. In baseball the balls in the air for maybe 5 seconds then right into a guy's glove.

I am not so sure we are talking about intelligence here but rather acceptable social behavior. Heavy contact activity such as football, boxing, roller derby, etc attract a certain kind of behavior while sports like baseball, basketball, horse racing, etc attract another. By the way, if you ever have a chance to go to a Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway park you might change your mind about the intelligence of baseball fans.

(The following is said with tongue firmly planted in cheek, although I am actually a baseball fan)
Baseball takes more thought and, subsequently, the deeper people are drawn to it. The subtleties are numerous.
Football needs only this: Reach between a guys legs, grab the football, run backwards a few steps, and heave it as far as you can, all while 5-6 guys are running at you with the intent of feeding said football to you for lunch, with a turf salad as an appetizer. Or handing that ball to another guy who will deliberately run AT those 5-6 guys with the insane hope of actually getting past them in one piece.

Obviously, you haven't been to a Yankees game. You go to a baseball game when the Yankees are playing and you will see that baseball will turn into Football on the field and in the stands as those damn Yankees fans travel with their team and are not pleasant.

Sadly they only understand cricket as an insect. Now there is a REAL sport. Not just some meat head who can't pronounce the entirety of one single word. "Bling" has ruined all sports in the states. They can keep that mentality across the pond along with that colored woman selling cosmetics Bouncy or what ever her name is.
