Both of my labors went smoothly with no complications. I went natural both times. I was much more afraid of having an epidural than I was of having the baby. I was in labor about 8 hours the first time and 1 hour and 45 minutes the second time. While there was some pain, it wasn't horrible. It was definitely worth it. Don't worry, most people don't have complications. But it seems that the one's who do like to talk about it and scare the rest of us. Try to stay relaxed as much as possible I think that a positive attitude helps more than anything. Good luck, everything will be fine.

Ive had 2 , both completely fine and normal with no problems , the first was 12 hours pretty text book , survived on gas and air and a little pethidine as I was tired cause I was in labour over night ..
my second was about 1h 30Min's , straight out , no time to to do much more than arrive at hospital and 1 can of gas.
both of my pregnancy's i wasn't exactly glowing either , i was fat , puffy faced , sick a lot .. didn't sleep.
i had a few stitches as he came out hand first but nothing more than is likely with any labour.
everyone and every labour is different , so no point in worrying .
I think you mostly hear about the bad labours because there is more of a story to tell and remember than you smooth running labours ,
I'm sure if you asked a room full of mums each to tell you how there labours were most would be fine or with very minor ups and downs ..
but least the stories you've heard the women are still around there to tell there tale . If it all goes wrong then modern labour wards can more than cope .

You always hear the horror stories everyone seems to tell you them over the good stories. Well don't panic its not as bad as everyone is making out I've just had my 2nd born at 39 weeks and she was a 36 minutes labour, 3 pushes and she was out there was no time for pain relief and yes the contractions are bad but as soon as the baby is born the pain stops. Don't worry at all you'll be fine just relax.

Oh hun, don't get yourself too worried. The vast majority of labours pass without complications.
I had my first baby, at home, in 4 hours flat. I had no stiches and just used gas and air for an hour. I can honestly say it was the most amazing experience of my life - and I have skydived and bungy jumped!! 36 hours after he was born, I was sitting in Cafe Nero having coffee with my ante natal group - all of whom had great, uncomplicated first labours.
It's the most natural thing in the world. Your body knows what to do - it's what it was designed for. The more scared you are, the harder labour you will have as your body will go into 'fight or flight' mode and all the blood will go away from where it is needed.
Just relax!

I had two c-sections that went very smoothly. My friend has had 4 that went smooth and my other friend had 3 normal births, the third one lasting 3 hours! Everyones different and people only tell you the horror stories. Yes, it will be painful, but people do it over and over again - so it cant be that bad.
Dont panic yourself, relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy - have nice baths, put your feet up, do some christmas shopping. It will be fantastic to see the face of your little one just after you give birth - there is no feeling on earth like it xxx

My labour and birth were relatively straight forward (was induced though, 10 days late). But after the birth they noticed loads of bleeding and discovered that my cervix was torn (not just my 'whatsit', but right up at my cervix. I lost at least 2 litres of blood, but didnt fancy a transfusion and luckily I didnt need one (was advised to have one though!) I was extremely sore having been sutured back up and was weak for weeks and was on high iron dosage tablets but I'm absolutely fine now and 16 weeks pregnant with 2nd and have beautiful wee 29 month old girl. What I'm trying to say is that you cant stop something happening to you in labour, but if something happens, your in the best possible hands to be looked after. Good luck - I'm sure you will just sneeze and baby will shoot out!!

I hope you are in the UK, as you spell "labour" this way it is likely. You must take notice of what your midwife says and don't listen to your friends.. Every labour is different and it is yours that is important to you. If you have a mid wife you can trust then the outcome will be fine. You can decide on the type of pain relief you want before the event.
A midwife will guide you to a successful delivery and yes it may not be very nice but think of your baby and what joy he/she will bring.
In the US they have Doctors deliver....you have a serious illness called pregnancy and they are the ones who will cure you!!! The midwife is far better placed to do the job.

Don't panic. Not every labour is rough. My first labour was a piece of cake. I went in at 3cm , walked for a while and had her the next morning with only about 20 min of pushing. Good luck and stop listening to the bad stories. All you will do is make yourself crazy.

Lol, don't panic. Even if it doesn't go smoothly, you're in a hospital where the people working there know what they're doing. You'll be fine, regardless. Just keep hydrated now till birth, it'll be easier for them to get an IV in, and make sure all your loose ends are tied before it's too late. Pack your bags, last minute baby things...etc.
I'd like to tell you mine went smooth, but it didn't. I don't really think I've met anyone who's had the perfect labour. Take it one day at a time...and soon you'll have your little bug in your arms!!

Alot of woman had smooth pregnancies that I've spoken to. Im 31 weeks and haven't had a problem so far. My mother had two C-Sections, but nowadays if the doctors fear anything at all they do C-Sections for liability reasons.
Don't panic because you can't control what will happen. You need to remain positive and prepared for the birth. Your coach will help and support you in any issues you may have.
