if not, it is a day to remember all the transgender people who have been killed due to being victims of hate crimes by transphobic and/or homophobic people. You can read these stories at:

If you ARE familiar, do you have plans for this day?

FTW..usually there are candlelight vigils held in various cities across the country. We have one in Austin going on. Also, on my campus, everyone involved in the GLBT community is wearing black arm bands with the name of someone written in white on it. Then, if people ask why we're wearing them, we hand them little flyers with the explanation of the Day of Remembrance on it.

I've never heard of it, thank you for bringing it to my attention!

Now that I know, I'll do something to honor those brave people who did all they could to be true to themselves.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for bringing this up, I didn't know actually of an official day, though I will think of some way to honor them... unfortunately this "city" I live in is about as anti-GLBT as it gets... there are no local groups, no nothing that I know of... A few out of the closet gay guys that know each other at the local campus is about all I've seen... but I'll do something privately, and maybe if I'm brave enough I'll try to bring it to other people's attention.

My local GLBT community center has events scheduled for each day of the week leading up to the Nov 20th remembrance.
Also, next April 1-5, Tucson will host the IFGE Conference at our Doubletree Hotel. This will be a very fun and educational week. Come on over! The website below has all of the information about Tucson and the event.

I didn't know that, that's cool. I'm gonna send a text message about it to all my friends on that day, so they can know about it to. Wow, I learn something new everyday, and the nerve of some people who think Yahoo Answers is a big waste of time! :)

I'm going to make fliers to hand out to people who ask and refuse to speak all day long.

It is so awful, that so many transgender people have been killed by hate crimes!
