I haven't been giving my car the care and attention it deserves. I'm really worried about the cost. How much should I set aside every month for servicing and cleaning.

It's a Mitsubishi Carisma, in very good shape at the moment.

You've asked the 64000$ question!!! My suggestion would be (if circumstances permit): Put £500 into an interest earning account (which has easy access to your money) and then add to it whatever you can afford ( I suggest £50 if possible each month) untill you've got, maybe, £1000. If you can manage to leave that intact and only put back what you will have to cover i.e. routine servicing and tyre renewals as and when necessary you will feel pretty secure. One thing is certain, you will get surprises e.g. the exhaust will start leaking or a silencer will blow...things which must be repaired or replaced if you are to stay on the road. If you have a good service workshop you can trust it could be usefull to have the car fully checked and any problems sorted so you can start your programmed maintenance schedule with reasonable confidence that your car will be reliable and safe. Finally, I suggest you try to learn something about the mechanics of your car. If you have to pay someone to service it for you it's good to know what is to be done with your money.
This seems to be a kind of sermon but you have to be aware that not all people in the motor trade can be trusted. And it's good to feel that you can have confidence in your vehicle . Good Luck

i would set aside 50-75 bucks a month then if needed you will have money set back for detailing it and maintenance ,tires and things like that you wont need that much done to it,mainly keep the oil changed and keep it greased good.and have it checked about every 6 months and it should be ok,good luck on it.

Not so much cost per month but I would budget 10 cents for every mile that you drive.

Parts are expensive for this kind of car.
So I would try to put at least $100. a month away.
