I mean, the guy did joke around about being dictator, and according to PD 51, he technically could suspend the constitution just like our great ally Pakistan did last week.

I lost $100 on a bet with a neo con

I said it could happen
he said it couldn't

then it morphed (like republican issues usually do)
into whether or not its in the Constitution
I never said it was I said its either in the Emergency Powers Act or the Patriot Act
He went around saying I welched on the bet because it ISN'T IN THE CONSTITUTION
rather than being accused of welching I paid the misinformed fool.

TYPICAL REPUBLICAN even when they are DEAD WRONG they claim to be right and make the other side PAY

Why do people freak out over PD 51? I have read the document top to bottom and I find nothing troubling with its content. Consider that contingency plans have always been passed by presidents in the event that emergency circumstances prevent out government from functioning like it normally would (like, for example, we were being invaded during elections). Bush's directive is actually more fair and democratic than most other presidents, and that's only with the directives we can compare with. Some presidents, such as Clinton, issued similar directives and classified them, making them unavailable to the public.

If you check my sources, I'm pretty sure you'll see that it's nothing out of the ordinary. Or you can keep believing your theory if that's fun :)

It won't take much for this scenario to become a reality. There seems to be a pattern going on here too with the recent news of the old Soviet Unions capital Georgia declaring a state of emergency because of the protests of their leader because he is backed by Bush just like Pakistan. Personally I think we are getting ready to declare war on Iran and the draft will be reinstated. Bush has been making preparations all along for war dissenters. Bush and Sarkosy are getting awfully chummy and Sarkosy has also took a stance against Iran.

I would not worry. As far as I am aware, George W Bush is our president and not this other guy you mention.

George W Bush has not suspended the Constitution, has worked within the law (even if it is a stretch sometimes), and has abided by all prior elections in his many years of public service. I may not agree with his policies or decisions, but I would also not fear a change in an established pattern of behavior over his many years.

No because it was a joke. He could no more suspend the Constitution than congress can, and they haved tried.

PD 51 seems easy enough to take down as unconstitutional, someone should try it. I'd be utterly shocked if Bush would try it, so I don't think there is anything to fuss about.

I would be very frightened and I live in Canada!

Honestly, given all the stunts that his administration has pulled. I would not be shocked if it happened.

he is evil and has bad tricks up his sleeve. i dont trust him. i never voted for him and absolutely hated his arrogance after 9-11. he seemed to be able to smile and tell the world we will get revenge. how is that for a guy who calls himself a christian. i think he plotted it or was closely tied to 9-11 and then incited our country to war so he and cheney could financially make out like bandits. he makes america look bad. i am worried about america. but maybe its just prophecy happening before our very eyes.

I think it will be done by him, he loves the idea of being in total control. He is a crook, and should be at the least in prison...
