It's a 4 hour trip and doable on Amtrak for $30 one-way

Train 190 leaves Providence at 10:23 AM arriving 11:00 at Boston's South Station

Train 449 leaves South Station at 12:05 PM arriving 2:15 PM at Springfield.

For $38, Greyhound leaves Providence at 10:40 AM arriving 3:40 PM at Springfield after transferring in Boston

Takes us about 1 3/4 hours. 295 to 146 to 90 (toll road). Do not take rt 20 from 146... it will take you hours and hours. Depending on when you are going Brimfield has an Antique sale 3 times a year May July September (they come as far as Germany). On 146 towards rt 90 there are MA State Troopers waiting to give you a ticket. It is cheaper to fly into Providence (PVD) airport then Logan(BOS) usually. But compare this to Hartford.
