Stasi-land of course being German slang for former Communist East Germany.

Isn't it interesting how the East Germans became so deeply involved with organising the EU?

I totally agree, the lengths the Stasi went to to keep control over their population were amazing, and this country is going exactly the same way.

Unfortunately, by the time the majority our population are convinced that we have no freedoms, it'll be too late to do anything about it.

Pirris, Stalin believed that the working class deserved to own everything. He believed the rich came by their wealth unfairly and that they needed to have their land and wealth taken from them. When he came to power and made this happen, he took the land from the hardworking, motivated farmers who were producing food for everyone and who were employing the working class and redistributed their land and wealth to people who didn't know what they were doing. They killed the farmers and the wealthy. So - after redistributing the wealth and putting new people in charge - people who had nothing at stake, and who also had no idea how to run a commercial farm successfully, they ended up with widespread famine. That means that people had no access to enough food to survive. They starved to death. Millions of people died because stalin believed he had a better system than the one that was in place. He killed them because he had envy of those that worked hardest to succeed and ignored the fact that they had developed the knowledge to run large scale agricultural farms successfully. -Kevin

When you get dragged off for interrogation by the secret police, beaten up and given sulphur injections to make you talk, before being thrown into a mental asylum or prison camp for disagreeing with the official ideology, you can compare the UK to the GDR or Soviet Union. Until then, don't be silly.

You can describe the US gov't as acting in the same manner. With warrantless wiretaps and indefinite detention without charges, it's only a matter of time before we have our own American "Stasi." Several US cities adopted London's "surveillance culture" with more considering to implement such programs in the future.

You are being watched and the question you have just posted has been noted.

Today's UK is "Airstrip One" of the novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four".

It's much more sinister than the two options you give.

The media keeps saying that Labour is stealing Tory policy.

That it has lurched to the right and taken centre ground.

Same as Tories, no difference.

Foolish, foolish little boy with your 'clever-clever' remarks. How insulting to the surviving victims of the Stasi and Stalin's secret police..... under whom the first victims of torture and execution would be those who spoke ill of the state. So basically, you.
