i believe when your polite. i'm more willing to listen when a person talks to me instead of at me. when people are rude it seems like they believe they are above everyone else. it feels like they are talking down to me. i only get pissed and i tune them out.

I've found that in life if you want to be listened to you have to be polite. Rude people just aggravate with their abrasiveness but rude behavior doesn't get your point across as well as politeness does.

It all depends on the situation... If they are people that you rely on and have to be around every day, then nice is the way to go. Although if someone is rude to me, I usually can't help myself and be nasty- nice back. For instance, if a person working in a store is being rude, I will ask them "If you hate your job so much, why not quit?" with mock concern.

they may listen to you when you are rude..but it's only to get you out of the way..
to get them to *really* listen to you..you have to be polite & show some damned respect..

Polite and helpful, when it's a funny answer or rude, i get a violation notice (even though i didnt threaten anyone, use profanity or discriminate anyone) what a bunch of babies.
