Drink heavily! LOL just kidding, if I'm depressed about something, I talk to my husband, he always has the best advice for me. If it's something within my control, I do what I can to make it better. If it's something out of my control, I can't change anything, so therefore i have to get over it.

I think what you´re referring to is having the blues, or feeling down. In that case, do whatever cheers you up, sometimes having company, or treating yourself to something nice helps.

But if you´re talking about clinical depression, I strongly recommend you get professional help. I am a survivor of a bad depression, went to therapy for several years and took medications for years as well. I´m not fully recovered yet, but I´m a lot better. I´m only 20 and am starting to feel what it means to be alive.

Group exercise helps out a lot.

Exercising is good for depression and your health in any event. Most people, however, will go to a gym and workout by themselves or they will work out at home by themselves.

I read an article about how group exercise appears to work much better than working out alone when it comes to depression.

I would say, find a gym that has some classes and start doing them. Promise yourself that you will go for at least a month before you decide whether or not it is working. It is not an overnight change.

Yoga, long talks with my mom and close friends, getting plenty of sleep and eating well, trying to stay busy and involved even when I don't want.

Basically, DON'T drink alcohol (trust me, it makes things worse) and try to take care of your body.

first, i have to stay in my room , analyse what had happened. I have to be quiet for sometime..to feel the pain...the sorrow.. and then to let it out in my system. When I feel okay..then I am ready again to face the world with better (if not best) ideas in mind.
