Anyone who is a natural born citizen, who is over 35 years of age and without a criminal record is eligable to become President. (How the Shrub got in under #3 is beyond me....)

Let's see:

I could run because I was born in Madison WIsconsin and legally a citizen of the US.

I am(definately) over 35

And I have no criminal Record (ecxept for a few parking tickets)

The voters might have a problem with me being married to a Lady of the same Sex, but I've been married for 27 years, showing it's a long-term monogamous marriage. However they may not be so forgiving that I'm an eclectic Pagan. This will not go over well in the Bible-Belt, but will be well recieved in California.

If they meet the other requirements set forth in the constitution, and can get elected, sure. But that 2nd part will trip them up for awhile, I bet.

Then again, 40 years ago the idea of a woman president, or even a female candidate with a serious chance of winning the nomination, would have got you laughed at.

All people who where born on U.S. soil and meet the necessary other requirments cna run for president, regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. American society, however, is not ready for a change in the presidential status quo. It will be a long while before we have a female president, or a colored president, or a Jewish/Muslim/Buddist/etc president, or a bi/gay president. Someday that will change though, someday.

Nothing in the costitution prevents this. If you are interested in pursueing it, I would advise moving to a progressive LARGE state like California that has a big chunk of the electoral votes and guarantee's you heavy national coverage and good support. LA would be a much better launcing pad than San Fran.

If you are hispanic, Florida might give you a better shot at national victory, if you can capture their hearts. Be warned though, they are not very progressive.

Ohio would also be a good launchpad.

The Constitution states the President of the United States must be at least 35-years old and a citizen of the United States by birth. It says nothing, or has no restrictions, regarding sexual orientation.

I would be very curious to see a gay candidate campaigning in the Bible belt...

It is not prohibited by the constitution. So, yes. But there is no legal same sex marriage in the USA.

Can you imagine Monica Lewinsky's brother coming out from under the desk of the President?

yeah right... we're still trying to get over the idea of a woman or a black man possibly becoming president.. I know.. you'd think we'd be more evolved by now... but theres a lot of "fly over" states that just got electricity and indoor plumbing...
