We are having one of our quarterly meetings today and since I don't want to participate, I have barricaded myself in my office. I'm wishing I had some different tunes to listen to...

So if you were trapped somewhere, and you were going to be there for a while, what 3 albums would you want to be trapped with?

lovnrckets - I've trapped myself in here. I've been asked to sit in, but I really don't want to - I haven't mastered sleeping with my eyes open yet.

This is one of those meetings where everyone sits around and congratulates themselves for the great (actually mediocre) job they've done. Ewww...

Dani - yeah, it sucks. But I'm trapped in here with the mini-fridge that has the beer and Halloween candy... :)

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Type O Negative - October Rust
Fugazi - 13 Songs

So, when one barricades themselves, is it like a hostage situation? You know, like enter this room at your own risk sorta thing? Can't say I blame you. Meetings for the most part a huge waste of time. It makes certain people feel better but few things are ever solved.

How the **** did I get the only thumb on this?

Hey Prof. I have a sneaking suspicion who the culprit is.

Great question. It reminds me of the old "desert island discs" thing they used to do for Pulse Magazine interviews.

At this moment, I would probably have to go with:
Pavement - Wowee Zowee (my favorite band at their best, although I am very tempted to take Terror Twilite)
the Shins - Oh Inverted World (for some reason I just never get tired of that one)
Frank Black - Teenager of the Year (good, even tempered record that I could listen to a couple times)

this is under the assumption that it's not a stuck for days type of situation. If that were the case I may go with something like the Virgin Suicides soundtrack or something more instrumental oriented so it would work better as background noise. The first thing I end up getting tired of is the vocalist usually when I listen to something too many times in too short of a span.

That is so awesome JMike. So wonderfully corporate.
and Lovenrckts. I've seen some random thumbs down on your answers lately. I wonder if you've made a YA nemesis (dun dun dun).

That's a great question, which requires some serious thought, because that would entail having to go through endless, repeated listenings of these three. No time to waste on an album that might have a track, or two that I skip through.
So Let's see. There are only a few, which I listen straight through and here they are:

1. Substance - Joy Division
2. KID A - Radiohead
3. A Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons - Blonde Redhead

1.Rubber Soul (The Beatles)
2. The Last Waltz (The Band featuring Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Joanie Mitchell, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Paul Butterfield, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, The Statple Singer, etc)
3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Heats Club Band (The Beatles)

Oh boy, well if I knew I was to be trapped somewhere and told to bring three discs, then I would probably avoid that area for quite a while. I'd prefer to be in a large open field since I get claustrophobia at times, but, however, I could see where they might be a difficulty in finding an outlet to plug in an audio device. So let's pretend that I don't have an option and am just randomly carrying three albums with me. In that case, at least for today, I would bring:

Uncle Tupelo - Still Feel Gone
Sebadoh - Bakesale
& one of a numerous compilations of Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits

Happy Head - The Mighty Lemon Drops
Surfer Rosa - The Pixies
Big Sexy Land - Revolting Cocks

question, can I periodically exchange some discs under the door??

I may want to swap out for Chronic Town by REM after some time

hmmm .... maybe "Various Artists" compilations would be the wiser strategery ....

eureka! can I burn 3 cd's with average of 160 mp3's each and call them "albums" (compilations, yeah, that's it!)?!
