Take them ahead of time. They won't necessarily help you conceive but they will give you the extra folic acid you'll need when you do conceive (before you even know that you've been successful!).

It won't help you conceive, but you should start taking them when you start trying. That way you will be taking them as soon as you are pregnant, not a few weeks later when you find out. It is especially important to have plenty of folic acid in the first trimester of pregnancy. If you start on the prenatals before you become pregnant then you don't have to worry about that. You want to be as healthy as possible when conceive. You should also stop smoking and drinking when trying to conceive if that applies to you.

The most important part of prenatal vitamins prior to conceiving is the folic acid. Having enough folic acid in your body will help reduce the risk of birth defects. The majority of birth defects start at conception or within those first few days after conception. The importance of taking prenatal vitamins after conception and throughout the rest of the pregnancy helps to prevent anemia (low iron counts) in mother and baby. Plus it doesn't hurt anyone to take a multivitamin every day even if they eat right and exercise.

They don't help you conceive but vitamins are a good idea to get your folic acid levels up (and that reduces the risk of some birth defects)

I take a women's multivitamin because it has extra folic acid in it, but the levels are at what a non-pregnant woman would need. If it takes me months to conceive, I don't want to be taking more than I need.

Once I'm pregnant, I'll make the switch to prenatal.

Make sure you eat lots of veggies (spinach has loads of folic acid) and you'll be great!

Take them while ttc.
It will strengthen ur uterine lining to prevent miscarriage.
It'll also give nourishment that'll be good for the baby from the time of conception.
Although prenatal vitamins does not exactly help you concieve...it DOES boost ur immune system..and when ur immune system is boosted, it is easier to get pregnant, since ur body is at a peak moment preventing infections and stuff.

It won't help you conceive but it is recommended because you will have the vitamins on board from the moment you conceive (as opposed to a month or two because you didn't know you were pregnant)

I would start taking them now. Not in order to help you conceive but to prepare you body with lost of folic acid and other essential vitamins. When baby comes he/she will suck the nutrients right out of ya! GL

It wouldn't hurt to take them now but if you choose not to then make sure you are taking folic acid. Folic acid will protect your baby from neural tube defects. Unfortunately by the time you know you are pregnant it could be too late to prevent things like Spina Bifida which can be caused by a lack of folic acid.

Although it won't help you conceive, it is good for you and great for your baby the moment you conceive! I think it is a great idea for you to take them now!

Good luck TTC!
