Because parents don't give their children the correct dosage. Also, no studies have been done to suggest that decongestants work effectively on babies. However, they were being used for years and many parents experienced success with them. SO, basically, they've been removed because parents are too dumb to read labels, or don't know their child's height or weight.

The official statement for the recall is that overdosing is too prevalent.

THeyre under review because cold medication for infants and young toddlers has been links to cardiovascular problems, holes in the sinus tissue, and among other things, death.

Cold medications do NOT belong in children, and certainly not in pregnant women. I've been preaching this on answers since it was launched. Its bad stuff.

Because they do not tell you the dosage. They simply say consult your physician. Because of that parents estimate how much to give and because of that babies have overdosed on the meds.

Parents are overmedicating and killing their children because the directions are not made for small babies. Antihistamines cause drowsiness, too much in infants can cause coma and death.

Because the risk of overdose is so high, lots of babies died.
