It won't hurt the baby (unless she falls) but it may hurt the mother. I'm only 3 1/2 months along and if I walk up and down stairs at work too much during the day then at night I have very bad cramps. I never had this problem with either of my other two pregnancies. So, if she is comfortable doing so, then yes she can walk up and down the stairs all she wants. As she gets bigger and its harder for her to see her feet, though, she needs to be extra careful (especially going downstairs!).

I am 7 months pregnant and have a job doing house checks once a week where I walk up and down 2 or 3 flights of stairs in 50 different houses. I can say that I'm starting to get winded quicker and sometimes I get aches and pains in my hips. I"ll probably continue another 4 or 5 weeks and then I might be too heavy to keep up with myself. But its just a matter of not over-exerting yourself.

Yes I am 36 weeks pregnant and walk up and down stairs everyday. My bedroom is downstairs. As long as she is careful and doesn't fall down the stairs she will be alright. Toward the end of pregnancy my doctor told me to walk up and down the stairs to hopefully kick start labor.

When I was pregnant I walked two flights of stairs everyday because I lived on the third floor in our apartment complex. It was good exercise. My daughter is now 3 and absolutely healthy.

yep, I've been doing it throughout my whole pregnancy (35 weeks now) I go up and down them about 10+ times a day (chasing my 2 yr old daughter) Just tell her to take it easy don't rush, and hold on to the rail (I did almost fall once) It is good exercise for her and will help in labor and delivery when you are more active (or so I hear and hope it's true!)
Good luck! =)

of course it is. I was pregnant and lived in a basement suite. I went up the stairs lots. When I was dizzy I had to sit down.. but I was fine.

Sure why not? As long as she doesnt trip and fall, or feel like she's over doing it.
Our bedrooms are upstairs, and so is the laundry room, so all through my pregnancy I was up and down all day. Didnt hurt me or anyone else I know. lol.

Yes, I am 7 months and do it all of the time. If that is all she did all day, then no... but as long as she isn't getting any bad pains or cramping, she is fine.

I believe stairs are safe for pregnant woman. If they are on bedrest it probably isn't a good idea.
