When I was a small child, my parents were missionaries in Uganda for a short time. I was about 6, so it was right after Idi Amin was routed from power, but the war over Uganda was still being fought. One day we were driving to a small village that we'd been to before, and I'd made a bunch of little friends there that I was very excited to go see and play with again. But the village was very still. No fires, no noise. The entire village had been slaughtered by whichever group had come though and needed to rape their women and steal all their food. I never did figure out which side did it. That evening, I sat in the car with my mother who rocked me and sang while I relived seeing a small bloody foot cut off at the ankle. My dad and the doctor who had been traveling with us spent the entire night digging a grave and burying the people so they wouldn't be eaten by the wild animals.

I grew up traveling through warzones as a noncombatant. And grew up knowing kids like these who had gotten left behind. Ironically enough, as an adult I joined the Navy as an attempt to try and put an end to some of the atrocities against children in this world. I think I did make some difference in the child pornographic slave market/organ harvesting of children kidnapped while I was in. (Yeah, we deal with that kind of thing too... did you know that?)

And that's what that video makes me think of.

It took forever to load onto my doorstop and never did actually play. I was able to move the cursor and get a gist of the message. My thoughts? Where do I begin? War is a necessary evil. Having a well trained and professional military protects us from the like s of Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler, etc., etc., etc.. Pol Pot used children to conduct his war. Adolf Hitler too, indoctrinated children with that same intent. Now you have the Taliban, the Hamas, the PLO and countless others who contaminate the minds of the very young. They grow up to fly airplanes into building full of innocent people. I notice that the author did not choose any of the many photos of women jumping to their deaths from the World Trade Centers. Chose to ignore all of the children now left parentless. Would not use any photos of the Killing fields of Cambodia nor the concentration camps of Nazi Germany nor the mass graves of Iraq. Yes, a picture IS worht a thousand words. So, how do you propose we end the madness? Shall we send Neslon, Kerry and Pelosey back to Syria to "negotiate" some more? Did you notice that none mentioned are the duly appointed Secretary of State? Did you also notice that since their violation of U.S. law and policy, Israel has bombed a nuclear weapons facility in Syria and that the Syrians made little mention or protest of it? Or that the U.S. news media barely made note of it? And what about the many genocides in Africa? All you've heard about is Dufar and of that, it's taken the better part of ten years for the U.N. to get involved... War is a horrible way to make change, but without it, you would never REALLy appreciate peace.

I cannot explain in word how this video made me feel, a few years ago i would have answered this is just a side effect of war and that would have been that but now that i have my own child i cannot even comprehend being the mother of any of these children and having to see them suffer the horrific injuries and disfigurement shown in this clip, children do not deserve to be involved in any of the problems that the world has created for it's self and certainly should not have to bear the scars of war, this clip has left me emotional and downhearted about the world today, in a way i am sorry i watched it.

What's your point? Were you under the impression that innocent children had NOT been killed or injured in virtually every war that has ever been fought? At the risk of sounding flippant about the tragedy of non combatants dying in war, it happens everytime men are forced to solve their differences by violent means, which is part of human nature, like it or not, and is also inevitable. The only utopia that will ever exist in the world will take place in heaven and on the new earth. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to prevent that. If there was, it would have happened long ago. We are now paying the price for original sin, including the death and injury of children in wartime. It's a fact that cannot be avoided, no matter how good our intentions.

Well, i'm joining the army, and this makes me want to join even more so i can help. It makes me feel sad that this happens to all these innocent people.

Thats why i want to join the army, they do alot of releif work and help people like this rebuild their lives and homes.

War will never end, there will never be peace on earth as long as there are Religions and Governments. Thats why i want to do my bit.

To help, so things like that dont happen in my country, to my friends, family and fellow countrymen.

I also want to help other countries, people and communities through hard times.

I did watch it to the end.

Powerful stuff.

The adults who cause and keep wars going should be made to sit down and watch it, then try and justify why
EDIT

Why the thumbs down.
It is awful and thats why the leaders should be made to watch it and justify why its worth it. They couldn't.
