I'm often doing a 12 hours shift on Xmas day, so it doesn't bother me

I would love it if my uncle came over from Ohio for Christmas. He came by with a long time friend of his one year for x-mas, suprised us by just showing up at the front door a few days before x-mas. That was a great holiday, he brought 3 bottles of good tequila that he took from the kitchen (he's a chef) and my mom got soooo drunk, but she was HAPPY drunk! I would love it if both my mom's siblings could hang out with us for the holidays, I got a feeling that they'll have other plans.

I have had that experience (I spent a career in the US Military -- so have had many years where I could NOT go 'home' for Christmas). It saddened me that I could NOT be with either my siblings, or even visit the gravesites of my parents (who we buried as very young adults) ... but ALL of us had our DUTY to perform (we all Served ... and they are STILL Serving), and we did it VOLUNTARILY and HONORABLY.

I will be devastated if I can't make it home. My daughter, who turns 21 tomorrow, has a 4 month old baby girl, whom I've yet to meet....
It's our plan to go home this Christmas (Australia). Wish me luck!!
