Many of our local radio stations go through this every year. Station managers want Christmas music to start the day after Thanksgiving. The majority of listeners say it's too soon. Personally, I'd rather not hear them until about 3 weeks before Christmas. What's your opinion?

I'm with you. 3 weeks is about right. One radio station here started playing Christmas music the day after Halloween.

A radio station here starts playing Christmas music a week before Thanksgiving. And I don't mean a Christmas song here or there. We're talking about all Christmas music 24/7 until Christmas is over. It is way too much and really turns me off to the holiday!

After Thanksgiving is better. The day after we are still recovering from the feast and not ready for Christmas yet. It's lovely to hear the Christmas carols on Christmas eve, but not at Thanksgiving. Let's enjoy Thanksgiving.

Agreed. I stop going to stores except for groceries soon after Thanksgiving. Once we lived across the street from City Hall. They had a HUGE speaker atop the City Hall, and played an 8-hour loop of Christmas songs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. They started the day after Thanksgiving and went until January 1 night. It was so loud we couldn't even hear the TV. And if I hear about grandma and those reindeer one more time..........

Even though I'm SO ready for Christmas this year, I don't want the radio to start playing carols too soon, maybe a couple of weeks before Christmas is ok, because I don't want to get tired of hearing them before Christmas is here. I want there to still be the excitement of them.
You should listen to Silent Night by Mannheim Steamroller. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

I'm fine with the day after Thanksgiving, I swear. Here in Kansas City, though, one of the radio stations has gone to the whole Holiday schedule already. They started the day after Halloween! I'm avoiding that station for some time now!

I think they should wait until the month of December, but with the day after Thanksgiving being the largest shopping day for the Christmas season. I guess that is the official start.

It has been years since I have heard a Christmas carol. My local stations play rap and the loud raucous music that is usual these days. It may have a Christmas theme but is not a Christmas carol.

Usually after Thanksgiving is a good time. It gets me in the shopping mood and I think that is the plan of most merchandisers.

I was in K-Mart yesterday and they were playing Christmas songs ALREADY !! They have a wing in their store dedicated to Christmas. It used to be the garden dept. but since Home Depot is across the street, I guess they figured they could put it to better use.

There was a guy who used to work with me that hummed them all year long. We all made a rule for him to not sing them until AT LEAST October and quit in January. ARGhhh!!

they should wait until after Thanksgiving. When I managed a store Corporate Headquarters left the Christmas decorating time up to the individual store managers. I insisted we wait to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Many customers commented how nice it was to shop in a store that didn't push the Christmas Shopping Season.
