Vote them out if you could find a person who is uncorrupt. Can you? Even though some new comers with good agenda in their election manifests turn corrupt after coming to power. Power breeds corruption and absolute power creates absolute corruption. There can be no model leader in politics in any country. We, as Indians, are in a political impasse. One solution is that Power system should not be poliarised. There should be system in election to call back the elected government if they fail to fulfill.In five years,there should be review after two years and the right tocall back. There should be very very important not more than 10 agendas only in their manifetos and the same should be reviewd in two years. For a govt servant,if there is any charge for any corruption pending,there will not be any promotion/career growth till the case disposed off. Same logic should be applied in the case of politians. Any govt servant has to declare his wealth in his/wife/dependent' name once in twoyears. The same has to be apllied to politicians also.

Can any politician agree for these ideas?

1. Not to elect them. But, if everyone is a crook what to do?
2. Naxals can do something about them. But they are happy only with police informers, who are very poor, police, other petty officials. Because I strongly feel they are financed by the bigwigs. So, what can they do?
3. Some change in the political system should be brought. Such as, open debate by the candidates, interviewing in public by the well known NGOs, media persons, intellectuals, etc.
4. More decentralisation of powers centres. In Bharat, that is till now leading to decentralisation of corruption. But, let's see till some more time.
5. What else, practically? Cleansing of politics should start from the top. For ex: Keeping a criminal in Central cabinet, does it help reduce crime? But it is happening in Bharat.

These corrupt politicians need to be exposed for what they are by high quality investigative journalists. Unfortunately the press here in the UK believe that the public is interested in the celibrity gossip they tout in the name of journalism. If they concentrated on improving democracy instead of kicking the next celebrity whe he/she is down then we would be much better off. The exposed politician would then be voted out of office at the next election or be forced to step down. We get the press we deserve and as a consequence the politicians too.

The right of ordinary people to protest peaceably is also part of democracy and if this blocks the roads then so be it. I would not agree that "something had to be done about them". They are at the forefront in the fight for democracy and should be applauded.

In times gone by the action of common people allowed us to have the freedoms we enjoy today...votes for all, fair pay, awareness of nuclear weapons, etc.
