The average cost of a radon mitigation or the reduction of radon from a building as stated by the EPA and most health departments is around $1200.00. With a little effort in most market areas you can find qualified mitigators that will get a simple house fixed for this amount or less.

The most common method and in my opinion the best way to reduce radon is by depressurizing the soil below the the home. This is done by sealing the interior of the foundation and cement slab from the soil below and applying suction to the ground below with a special fan that vents the radon gas harmlessly above the roof of the home. This creates a negative pressure below the slab which disallows the radon from rising into the home. These fans usually draw way less that 100 watts and will give nearly a decade of worry free service. These systems also have the added effect of reducing moisture and typical basement odors.

That is a tough question. There are so many variables. Sometimes it is a simple fix like ventilation and other times it can be an elaborate fix. Of course the cost will be related to the fix. I would suggest that you go to EPA.gov and check out their information.
