Whats wrong with our 4 almost 4 month old?!?!?

Alright our son is 4 months, he will be 5 months on the 15th. He had his 4 month shots on tuesday, and now hes been screaming,crying, and having many dirty loose diapers. This never happened with his 2 month shots, so im starting to think its not from his shots! Im wondering if he could be teething. When he was about 3 months he started drooling and chewing on everything, and now that hes almost 5 months maybe they are going to be popping through soon? What are the symptoms of teething OR has anyone had these symptoms after shots? Ive been giving him tylenol every 4-6 hours. Lastnight he was awake from 1am-4am just crying, nothing would calm him down!!! Im not sure whats going on with him. Maybe a touch of the flu? THANKS!!!

Call the pediatrician--he could be allergic to something in this set of shots, could have a virus, the flu, or could be teething. Your best bet would be to make an appointment for today. Instinct would tell me teething, but since it was so sudden and right after getting the shots, you can never be too careful.

The poster above is wrong: my nephew is deathly allergic to eggs and dairy and NEVER gets a rash or a fever. Some kids do get rashes, I've never heard of them getting a fever. My nephew gets diarrhea and used to cry as a baby and young toddler.

Is he responding to the tylenol? He may do better with INFANT Motrin if not. It sounds like he's teething. AFor some reason teething causes diaper rash and or loose poops in some infants. The teeth may be very close to breaking through which is the most painful part. The shots went directly into his blood stream so you would have seen those side effects the same day, or the very next day. Time is everything when finding the source of illness. Try giving him cold things to chew on through the day and let him chew on your clean fingers if it's not too painful. It will also let you know when the teeth break through.This is better than all day meds as overtime the body grows accustomed to certain pain relievers. Try to save the meds for naptime and bedtime so he'll get a restful sleep. This will pass.

NOTE: Allergic reactions show themselves in various ways. Most commonly fever and constipation/loose stools/severe gas. NOT RASHES.

he really could be tething baby girl had two teeth by the time she was four months old, and now she nine months old and she cutting a few more!!

look inside of his mouth(if you can get him to open it)if you can see really white spots on his gum or you can feel little numbs sticking out then yes he's teething.

my doctor recomended using a little bit of orajel on the gums and using infants tylenol, but if you just get a bottle of children's tylenol and just give him half of what you would with the infants tylenol it worls alot better.

you can get childrens tylenol multi symptoms and he is having any other discomforts then that should help him!!

if he's eating baby foods try chilling them instead or warming them up the cold will feel good on his gums and try getting a teething ring small enough to fit in his mouth and freze it he will love it!!

Call your pediatrician. It's not unheard of for a baby to be fine with one round of shots and develop a reaction to the second or third round of shots. Diarrhea in a 4 month old is not to be taken lightly, and he could dehydrate quickly if it lasts for very long.

While teething can cause crying and diarrhea too, it's always best to let the pediatrician evaluate the situation with a young baby.

To me it sounds like teething. They cry non-stop and end up with the poops because of the teething.

If he has no rash, no fever, and its not in pain on his body (he doesnt scream in pain because you move his limbs or press gently on his belly), chances are he's teething. Especially if he's got his hands in his mouth, is drooling, or not interested in his usual foods.

He's right at the teething mark.

Generally the second round of shots only results in tiredness, since its pathogens they've already been exposed to and they do have some antibodies for them, it gets even easier for the next round.

If it were an allergic reaction he'd have rash, fever, or things along those lines.

When you stick your clean finger into his mouth does he clamp down on it? If so the pain could probably be attributed to teething. If not it might be a stomach virus. Tis the season. As long as he is not running a high fever and you keep him well hydrated he will probably be okay. If it is teething try giving his a cold wash cloth to chew on. It might help.

just because it didn't happen with his 2 month shots doesn't mean it wasn't caused from the shots. You should talk to his doctor about it.

are you breastfeeding? if you are, it could be caused from something in your diet that doesn't agree with him. (one of mine got coliky and it was from something in my diet). if he's on formula, it could be that it's the wrong one for him... again you should talk to the doc.

My now 9 month old son displayed the sames symptoms after his 4 month and 6 month shots. However, his 6 month shots were the worse. He spent a week afterwards screaming bloody murder in his crib.

I recently read that health care workers were confused as to why educated moms were opting to not vaccinate. There line of thinking was.. How can educated women not care for the safty of their childrent. I think that they answered their own question.
