There are a group of archaeologists and aviation enthusiasts who believe that she was able to land her plane on a small, deserted island or atoll in the Pacific, after missing a refueling rendezvous with a US naval ship. She was trying to become the first women to fly around the world. And disappeared part way through a leg over an ocean. No one is exactly sure where she went and what happened to her.

On an episode of Family Guy there is a song and one line is..."Amelia Earhart flew a lot of planes yea 'cept for that one time that she never came back!.."

So I guess she never came back....

i guess she disappered/died..she wanted to set a record of being the first women to fly around the world but crashed into the ocean and nobody has seen her/found her body since

She and her copilot dissappeared on a flight over the south pacific in the 30's, no one has seen her since.

It is not known for sure what happened. She and her navigator vanished during a flight.

She disappeared.
No doubt she crashed. Some say into the ocean,others say she was captured and executed by the Japanese.
