technically, if you empty the recycle bin, things are gone, gone, gone, and you can't get them back. Now, that being said, there are utilities out there that will help you "undelete" items. They work outside of the windows file handling and can undo the damage, maybe. I know Norton made a product. Search for "undelete", you should be able to come up with something. But for goodness sake, don't do anything more on your computer until you undelete the file. Windows used to just put a ? as the first character of the filename (an illegal filename character), and would therefore not recognize the data as a legitimate record, but the data was still there. However, that space on the disk is now available for other things, and could get written over. Get an undelete product right away. Good luck, Hope I helped a little.

When you delete a file from the Recycle Bin the listing that points to it is deleted. But the file itself is not. The space it occupies is added to a list of "free space" and made available for future files.
There are undelete programs that can get your file back. http://ccleaner.com has a good free one.
BUT you have to do it immediately, before Windows decides to store in new file in that location. Depending on where the file was located on the hard drive (it always starts at in the middle and moves out to the first free space) and how full the hard drive is, the file may be there for several days or only minutes.
Good luck

you can still get it back if it you didn't delete it to long of a time. the first thing you should do is not write anything on the partition were the deleted files were because there a chance you will write over them (if this hasn't happened already). and there are a lot of software that handle recovery of lost files. just search google for file recovery software and you will find enough links for such a software. still if you deleted a long time a go or done a lot of writing on that partition there is a big possibility that the files are lost for ever

If you put it in the recycle bin, then emptied the recycle bin, they're gone. Someone may know a way to restore them, but if they were that important, you shouldn't have deleted them not once, but twice. Make sure you check the recycle bin carefully in the future. If you haven't emptied it lately, then they're still sitting in there.
