My son will find out on Saturday if he's off work on Thanksgiving, and if he is, he's going to come home for the holiday. I know that one of his roommates doesn't have a car, so most likely he won't go home. He and my son were the first ones to move in their apartment, and we took him shopping with us and then out to lunch before we drove back home. So it's not like he's a stranger to us. I was just thinking about inviting him to come to our home with our son so he can celebrate the holiday instead of sitting in his room all day. Have any of you done anything similar to this?

Hi Wise Guy. I noticed that on a question you starred. I didn't recognize the name, so I clicked on your name and saw your profile was you. I thought maybe something happened like you got a bad e-mail. Glad everything is okay. It's going to take a while to get used to your new name though! It's down right cold here today. I have a sweater on and had to close the windows! Brrrr.

Wise Guy- my son takes patisserie and baking, so he can definitely make some desserts to bring home. He doesn't cook much, so I'm going to leave the turkey to me! LOL

Yes that is a great idea, I have had to spend Thanksgiving literally alone, it is very depressing. i don't think anyone should have to be alone on the holidays.

We invite friends all the time. Thanksgiving is a time of sharing with family and friends. You should invite anybody who is alone, that is a wonderful thing to do! Kudos to you! Happy Thanksgiving!

I brought one of my roommates home with me for Thanksgiving one year. She couldn't fly home, and we didn't want her to be alone over the holiday.

It was something everyone enjoyed and we're still good friends to this day.

That's a great idea! I'm sure your son and his roomie will appreciate the generous gesture.
