Your other answerers are corect, it's impossible to get an accurate count because it's been performed at so many schools around the world. This site has a partial schedule of schools and other venues that plan to perform it:

You could e-mail and ask them for a count, but honestly I'm sure they have better things to do than look up stats.

I just finished a production of West Side Story about two months ago! I played a Jet girl. It was at a local community theatre in Arizona. Like everyone has said, it is one of the most well known and overly done shows in history.

It opened at the Winter Garden theater in New York in 1957 and ran for 734 performances.

There are really too many to count. Many, if not all, legitimate theater companies and some high schools have put it on at some point. There are also sevral productions of it around the world on any given season. It's uncountable. Sorry. :(
