I'm glad China has reversed this silly rule, but along the same lines, I hope our athletes are going there to compete and enjoy the commeraderie of other athletes and other cultures and NOT to proselytize.
Being in the presence of some of these athletes and athletic events, especially at the high school and college level, are more like running missionary gauntlets. Why can't they respect other's faiths or that they choose to believe differently or rationally or learn this at this level?

hi, although a great deal saved decrease than mums, China is having problems with most of the Islamic people on her a procedures western provinces. The athletes in contact approximately bibles would desire to drop out of the Olympics and make their motives conventional. Sacrificing all those years of artwork and attempt will rather instruct their dedication and perception interior the Lord do no longer you think of? somewhat, China isn't the only u . s . that doesn't enable bibles. Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Yemen and so on do no longer enable bibles the two and exceedingly crosses on necklaces or scapular medals. maximum going to those worldwide places are oil workers being payed 6 figures so as that they have got a tendency to no longer whine approximately those regulations. To his credit the only guy or woman who has had the middle to talk up on it rather is Pope Benedict who advised those worldwide places that western Europe tolerates mosques and Korans so hadn't they extra ideal get on the band wagon and permit church homes bibles and so on. Cheers, Michael Kelly

China has reversed its decision about the Bible. They did not ban the Koran because they are an athesist country that endorses everything that flies in the face of Christianity.

Of course. If the athlete needs a bible, he or she obviously isn't focused on the task at hand. I've watched a fair amount of Olympic sports and I've never seen an imaginary friend win (or even come close).
Maybe they didn't ban the koran because no governments are whining at the chinese about their official government policy on the subject, whereas our christian taliban president is constantly whining at the chinese about their christians.

No we shouldn't, although it sounds like they reversed their decision.
Interesting how questions like these bring out the totalitarians, who use their "tolerance" as a cover for their hatred of people of faith (but usually Christians, and their justification is usually that someone tried too hard to convert them, or the witch trials 300 years ago, or something else irrelevant to civil liberties).

The Olympics were started by polytheistic Greeks. From a religious point of view, Christians, Jews and Muslims should all boycott the event.

No, we should definitely take a firm stand against the repression of any religion, but China has reversed it's decision on the matter, so it's really not relevant anymore.

Yes, giving up is not the way to win a battle. They can still take the Bible in their hearts and minds until they are able to take it in person as well again.
Banning any Religious book over another in wrong.

The most persecuted person these days is a white, Christian, male. And it seems okay to do this. Where is our Jesse Jackson?
No we should not have and that's why China changed their mind.
