Is there any bar in Indian constitution to form political parties on the basis of religion?

No. The catch is there can not ben any discrimination based on that party's belief... like let's say they won power; they could not pass laws that violated India's constitution based on their religious beliefs.

Political parties associated with a religion must be disqualified since there must me separation of church and state.
