I was watching vh1's top 100 songs of the 80's, and number 1 was "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. It beat out "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns and Roses, "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC and "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. I'm not an 80's baby, i was born in '92. but that seems kind of bogus to me. What is your choice for top song of the 80's?

Boy this is all too mainstream for me.
Bowzer hit some good tunes but I miss the wave-scene that was big at the time.
so I'd add
I can't escape myself - The Sound
Monkeyland - The Chameleons
A Forest - The Cure
All my colours - Echo & The Bunnymen
Brave New World - Spear of Destiny
Ivo - Cocteau Twins
Frontiers - Dead can Dance
Backwards across Thresholds - Dance Chapter
Beyond the Pale - The Mission
...
But I guess most in here don't know more than one of these!
Best is usually never the most played, sold or listened to.

Best song of the 80s? That's a near impossible question to answer, there was so much brilliant music made in the 80s and a lot of my favourite bands released albums then

Bands like The Smiths, The Cure, U2, R.E.M, Boomtown Rats, The Clash made so many great songs each that I really don't think I could choose

i think they picked that song for #1 because most people associate the 80's with bon jovi and that was like the biggest song of that time for them, until dead or alive that is. as for a favorite, there are way to many to pick. i am a big fan of the hairbands. i love to watch old headbangers ball, which i have every episode recorded.

All 80's music is awesome to me and I couldn't possibly pick a favorite. It's all on my mood and what I'd like to hear at that exact moment. Far too many great bands came out during that era for me to be able to pick the top 10.

Yeah I couldn't believe Bon Jovi was #1 too....There are so many more better songs that could have been #1.

Makes you wonder did people vote on that or was it some Bon Jovi loving producer or something...GAG is all I can say.

Well theres lots I would have chosen over the ones you mentioned, but its all about personal taste, I guess. I would take "Into The Night"..by Benny Mardones as my #1, if I had to just pick one, thats the one!
