Hey everyone I really need some good ideas for handmade gifts this year. I don’t want anything overused like bath stuff, candles, or baked goods. I really want to blow people away with these original ideas. I have checked Martha, and other craft sites, but all of that stuff is a little overused. Also I can not knit or crochet so that is out of the question. Please help, best answer will receive lots of points. Thanks!

I am making "Runaround Bags" for my friends. It is a Lazy Girl Pattern that I purchased. It is about 8" X 10" and the perfect tote for quilt shows, walmart runs and flea markets where you need a $20, your visa and keys. I made 2 in less than an hour. It uses 2 fat quarters but I made mine from silk fats. You can embellish however you like. Toooo Cute! Quilteroo

Because most of the other people who commented are jerk offs, I would be more than happy to help you out! I am a romantic at heart. Last Valentine's Day I had my buddy light candles in my apartment before me and my girl came home from dinner. I actually wrote on 20 cards asking random questions. I call it 20 questions. We had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries there too. It is just a way to let your girl know how much you care and want to know about her. Good Luck Man!

Make a scrapbook for each person. Let the scrapbook tell from beginning to current of your relationship with each receiver. Whether it is a relative or friend they are all special to you in some way or you wouldn't be giving them homemade gifts. So if its a friend tell how you met with pictures or momentos of your friendship and how its endured through the years. Do the same with family members but of course it would be from their birth. Hope this helps.

*I'm going to make up one for Doggie Biscuit mix too for a friend that is getting a puppy soon!
A few other Ideas are:
-Take a photo and a cheap photo frame and jazz up the frame with beads or shells by gluing them on. If you can do some photoshop to black out the background of the photo, that classes it up too!
- make a calender with a computer program with family photos and put everyone's birthday on it and special holidays.
-Make "Favor coupons" out of fun scrapbooking supplies. They could be for free babysitting, A coffee date, a drive, etc.

Believe it or not, jewelry made by hand is a great way to show you care, and your talent. It is not hard to do, but does require a bit of patience! You can buy the very thin metal wire or plastic and all kinds of different style beads to make earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and pins. You can also buy an unpainted peice of sculpture and paint it . Pictures taken and put in a homemade frame are also a forever treasure. Good luck, and just brainstorm an idea from your heart will turn up!

Felt crafts are very easy . A penny rug can be as simple or as complicated as you might want to make it. It can be designed and cut out in one evening and within a week depending on how complex your idea is.
It is basically layering felt into a design or picture and sewing it onto a felt round using an EASY blanket stitch. Very folksy!

one of my favorite things to do with my children for their teachers every year, we make candy wreaths. this is what you need:
-child size wire hangers ( or regular size if you prefer )
-3 pound bag of festive WRAPPED candy pieces ( you might find some discounted Halloween candy, it would work great )
-a spool of bread ties or the smallest gage wire possible ( you can find at the dollar store or just use regular trash bag ties )
-enough holiday sash to tie on a bow ( i can't do bows!! )
now... the hanger should be pulled from the bottom to create a circle with the hanger at the top. take a piece of candy and by the twisted side, wrap it with the wire to the hanger.
you just keep doing this over and over again till your wreath is as full as you would like. when finished tie sash into a bow at the hanger... it is a great gift and treat!!
be prepared... it gets heavy fast!!

A handmade tree ornament is always welcome. Be sure to put a date on it somewhere and it is likely to become a treasured heirloom.
Ornaments can be made of wood, fabric, felt, cross stitch, photographs, beads...any number of crafting materials.
The more of yourself you put into it, the more it will be appreciated by the person receiving it.

Check out your local library. They usually have lots of books on crafts and Christmas crafts. You can use their ideas or modify it to make your own.
