Its abnormal - it signifies insecurity. She seems to feel secure using objects appropriate for an infant. Does your friend have a mental illness?

A Psychologist (Sigmund Freud) had a Psychosexual theory. The 1st stage (oral stage) focuses on a newborn infant & 1-yr-old. Infants need to suck on their mom's nipple for nourishment.

A baby needs social contact from his/her mom. If a baby doesn't suck on a nipple, he/she will suck on a pacifier, thumb, finger, toy, bottle & other objects.

Your friend might have never been told to stop using these objects as a toddler.

It's certainly not a good thing or a healthy thing. It seems like she wants to stay "like a baby". Maybe your friend didn't get enough or needed more attention as a baby. Babies have a sucking reflex and if it's not satisfied as a baby or toddler, then sometimes the behavior continues. I think she needs to see a counselor to try to break these habits after trying to find out why she does it to begin with. Sounds like your friend needs more attention or lacked it when younger.

i might say that it somewhat is in simple terms slightly via fact little ones often have some notably extraordinary pastimes... ex.. donning your denims putting down, the pacifiers was once primary while i replace right into a young person, spiking your hair etc.. they are all to spark a definite identity and declare a definite quantity of independence. even nonetheless, if he continues to be breast feeding at 17, it is definately toddler abuse and reportable.

Then she must have buck teeth, because that's what happens if you do those things for more than a few of your childhood years.

I would HIGHLY recommend that she see a counsellor.
