I was wondering how careful I should be. My daughter is 1 and she still requires me to pick her up and down quit a bit. She weighs about 23 pounds so I can only be so careful. Any advice?

You can safely lift up to 40 pounds.

The key is to lift properly. Squat down using your legs, not your back.

Lifting improperly or lifting heavy things will NOT hurt the baby, as some think. The real risk is to the mother's back.

Just be careful about how you lift. Its not that there will be harm done to the baby, its for your safety. Risk of back injury, and since we all know how unbalanced and clumsy pregnant women are, there is a chance you could fall. I'm still picking up my 3 year old son when he needs it.
