I cought this cough/cold thing from my step daughter, and just started getting the symptoms yesterday. I plan to call my doc, it is only 6:20 am here right now, and it is too early. What is safe to take?? Does not mean that i will, i am just wondering.. did you get sick during your pregnancy?? what did you take? thanks!

My doctor said that for a cold you can safely use

1. Saline nasal spray and salt water gargles
2. Cough drops
3. Cough syrup (guafenesine and dextromethorphan)
4. Vaporizer or humidifier
5. Vicks Vapo Rub
6. Tylenol
7. Antihistimines

You should avoid most "combination" over-the-counter cold remedies and instead buy the medications separately.

Decongestants have been linked to birth defects and can reduce blood flow to the placenta.

My friend is ill with a cough, in her second trimester, now. The doctor said there is nothing she can take. She was advised to drink small sips of water and perhaps hot drinks with lemon, honey and ginger.

Tylenol..cold and cough..sinus...is usally best for preg. women. of course ask your dr but usually that is the best.

When i was sick and prego i just hunkered down with my OJ and chicken soup. LOTS of rest for the first day works wonders
